Lori’s childhood was spent in playing at open fields and witnessing countless storms and natural disasters, and has left she with a deep affection for the American landscape. This love of the land and sky, along with a fascination for the absurdities of life, has developed into a series of photographs of constructed landscapes. Cardboard, plaster, models and paint are used to create highly detailed dioramas for the camera. Lori Nix tries to maintain a sense of dark, but humorous, irony in the stories she tells by combining a sense of innocence with tragedy.
